Textbook Donation & Support Overview
Osstem Implant is offering the ‘OneGuide System’ (by Kim Ki-seong and Kim Yong-seo) textbooks to key dental universities around the world. Dr. Harry Hyungkyun Shin, the English translator of the book, has donated textbooks. Osstem Implant revealed that it selected which dental schools will receive the books through discussions with its nine overseas subsidiaries in the U.S., Europe, Brazil, Japan, Vietnam, and other regions.
Key Aspects of the Textbook Content and Translation
The textbook covers the essential concepts of digital guided implant surgery, enhancing the understanding of Osstem Implant’s ‘OneGuide System,’ which minimizes errors during the production of surgical guides and ensures precise implant placement at the desired location. The textbook features the basic ‘OneGuide KIT,’ as well as the ‘OneCAS KIT’ for sinus surgeries, ‘OneMS KIT’ for narrow bone widths, and ‘One485 KIT’ to avoid damage to the inferior alveolar nerve in the lower molar area.
A special feature of the book is its detailed explanation of digital device usage, which is helpful for readers with no digital clinical experience or those unsure about how to use equipment like oral scanners. Dr. Shin explained that when there were discrepancies in terminology between countries, the translation was carefully done, using various academic papers and discussions with local dentists to ensure the most suitable expressions for clarity and consistency.
“Utilizing the Textbook and Participating in On-Site Lectures Together”
Dr. Harry Hyungkyun Shin recommended combining hands-on lectures with a self-guided study of the textbook. «On-site lectures have the advantage of real-time Q&A, open discussions, and practical classes, but it’s unfortunate that, in limited class time, only theory and a few key cases can be practiced. Many international students often feel this limitation,» he said. «In digital surgery, an easily overlooked issue is the tendency to oversimplify or generalize surgical protocols. This is why I rushed the English translation of the ‘OneGuide System’ — to ensure that solutions to specific clinical problems can be found in a single volume.»
Recommendation for the Textbook by an Osstem Implant OIC Speaker
The Osstem Implant Japan subsidiary will donate textbooks to 16 dental universities in Japan, including Tokyo Medical and Dental University, Osaka University, Hokkaido University, and Kyoto University. Dr. Satoshi Anzai, Director of the Digital Course at Osstem Implant Japan OIC, commended the textbook, saying, “The textbook covers a variety of cases, from simple to full-mouth scenarios. It is a fantastic resource to help users fully leverage the OneGuide System and will enhance the quality of seminar content as well.”
Dr. Lukasz Zadrożny, Adjunct Professor at Warsaw Medical University, Poland, noted, «The OneGuide System textbook thoroughly covers all stages, from data collection to surgical planning and clinical practice. It not only carefully details the principles and procedures for using the OneGuide, OneCAS, OneMS, and One485 surgical kits, but also includes a rich collection of photographs and diagrams to aid in understanding. I highly recommend this textbook for both beginners and skilled clinicians alike. ■
